PC Only This bug is fixed by version 2.0.1 of the Unofficial Dawnguard Patch. This quest may not start if, after installing Dawnguard, you have visited Mzulft or Deep Folk Crossing prior to reading The Aetherium Wars and the corpses at these locations have been fully removed from the game.
Looking through the wikis I see two possibilities for what may have happened: I found a shard before reading the book (The Aetherium Wars), or going to the Dwemer ruin, and didn't have a problem with the quest. Originally posted by BlacKy.but i think that because i've found a shard too early, the book now doesnt trigger the quest.I don't think so, at least not that alone.
So how do i force-start the quest? Is there a consule command to try?
Sadly the quest log seems to have a limited amount of quests that it can show (if anyone knows a mod which helps categorize quests in the journal in alphabetical order, now is a good time to talk). I tried to search the quest in the quest log but havent found it. I tried to keep doing this in the 'manual' way and to make the compass at the Ruins of Bthalft, but i cant do it on my own. Right now im have the posession of all the 4 shards by using the wiki to know where to find them, without a quest to guide me. The main problem is with Katria's journal which i should have found on her body at Arkngthamz, but i not shown, for obvious reasons. I was originally supposed to start the quest by reading a book, but i think that because i've found a shard too early, the book now doesnt trigger the quest. The thing is, that i may or may not started the quest by picking up one of the shards (right side i think), and since then i cant track down the original start of the quest, and now im stuck with it. In short: The quest should start while reading a book called The Aetherium Wars. If your character uses a shield, definitely give this a try.In the past when i played Skyrim, i stumbled upon one of the Glowing crystal shards without starting the actual quest.įor quite a time this shard was kept in my inventory till yesterday i've decided to try and do its quest, Lost to the Ages. I left the ruins and received the ring as well! All of the Forsworn people came back in, at least 5 of them, and I took them out by myself by bashing and hacking. I followed Madanach until I got all of my items back, and then I equipped all of my gear and shouted Ice Form at him. You just bash all of the enemies except for one and then hack the non-ethereal enemy.įor example, I got both the Armor of the Old Gods and the Silver-blood family ring from the quest No One Escapes Cidhna Mine. But if there's a group of enemies coming at you, this thing is amazing. It's useful in one-on-one combat because this shield can give you a precious 15 seconds to heal or prepare a spell or run away. If you aren't aware, the Aetherium Crown allows you to have two active standing stone abilities and the Aetherium Shield will turn anything ethereal for 15 seconds if you bash them with it (except for dragons). We all know the crown is pretty awesome, but my current character uses a sword and shield so I thought that it would be appropriate to forge the shield.
